How the Epoxy Flooring Process Works

Knowing the sequence makes it obvious where quality comes from. Here is how a Taylord Epoxy floor goes in, from the first visit to the walkthrough.

1. Free on-site estimate

We visit the space, measure it, check the concrete for cracks, spalling, and moisture, and talk through finishes. You get a written scope and price with no pressure, and the schedule is part of it so you know when the space is unusable.

2. Diamond grinding

The slab is profiled with industrial diamond grinders, including edges and corners. This is the step that lets the coating bond mechanically into the concrete instead of sitting on the surface, and it is the step cheap jobs skip.

3. Repair and prime

Cracks, pits, and spalled areas are filled and leveled, then a primer coat locks everything down and gives the base coat a consistent surface to sit on.

4. Base coat and flake or metallic

The pigmented base coat goes down and, depending on your finish, vinyl flake is broadcast into it while wet or metallic pigment is hand-worked to create movement. Excess flake is scraped and vacuumed once cured.

5. Clear topcoat and cure

A high-build clear coat seals the system and becomes the wearing surface — that is where the gloss, chemical resistance, and easy cleanup come from. Then the floor needs cure time before foot traffic and longer before vehicles return.

6. Cleanup and walkthrough

We clean the site and walk the finished floor with you before leaving, and go over care instructions: sweep and rinse or mop, no wax, no harsh strippers.

What we need from you

The garage or space has to be completely clear so the slab can be ground and coated edge to edge, and we need access to power and water. We confirm all of it at the estimate so nothing stalls on install day.
